A Quick Note on Water Baptsim
We have been commissioned to go and Baptize people who say “yes” to following Christ.
Great Commission: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
Inviting people to be baptized is biblical. Therefore, we must all share the invitation with our friends and family members to confess Christ, experience renewal, and witness the amazing work God will do in their lives through the power of His Holy Spirit. We are all called to preach the Good News, just like Saint Peter.
Baptism Preached: “And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38
Baptism is an outward demonstration of our faith in Christ Jesus. We are now aligning to no longer live according to our own ways. The New Life in us is leading us now to live according to our faith in Christ Jesus.
Baptism leads to Sanctification: “Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:3-4
We need to know that Salvation doesn’t come from Water Baptism. It’ symbolic obedience. Because we are saved by grace alone, faith alone and Christ alone. The confirmation of our Salvation happens when we are born from above through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Symbolic Obedience: “Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 3:21
