There’s Nothing New

Have you come across questions that pertain to whether we need to spiritualise our faith journey? Often, because of different circumstances, good, bad, ugly, or whatever we face, some attempt to look for something new in the faith journey.

Let me simply say this: “There’s Nothing New.” We already have everything needed for our life of faith. We need to return again and again to the basics, steady, faithful, and rooted in every season.

“I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.” (Jude 1:3 ESV)

We are not waiting on any new age movements or new revelations. Yes, a revived spiritual life will always make a difference. It is about our faithful devotion. At the same time, biblical literacy and faithful biblical exegesis matter greatly.

Here are simple things that our faith needs all the time. Again:

There’s Nothing New.

  1. Devotion to the Sixty-Six Books.

  2. Devotion to a life of prayer—ideally with one or two prayer partners.

  3. Devotion to sharing your faith.

  4. Devotion to holistic living.

  5. Devotion to the local church that submits to the authority of the Sixty-Six Books, non-mystical, non-monkish, Christ-centred, evangelical spirit filled Church life.

  6. Enjoying the noble things in life, including rest, recreation, and joy.

There’s nothing new, only the call to remain faithful to what has already been given.
